MEXICO – JP161: Leadership Exploration and Community Living

This is an immersive, community-based learning experience and includes a multi-day wilderness expedition. This course is designed for students without previous outdoor or expedition experience, and who do not hold outdoor leadership positions at Colby.The course will feature in-house training on community living skills from staff in Outdoor Education and Leadership, and FLI and International Student Programs. Students will additionally receive wilderness medicine training, social-emotional leadership training, and participate in a 12 day wilderness expedition with NOLS out of the NOLS Mexico Campus in Baja Sur. Students should expect to participate in long days on campus (8-12 hours) and fully immersive days (24 hours) on the expedition.
