SPAIN – EC216: Practical Applications of ESG

GLOBAL INNOVATION COURSE JAN PLAN 2025: The Goldfarb Center and Economics Department at Colby, in partnership with Avangrid, are conducting a hybrid JanPlan course with a global experience that will bridge the theoretical ESG framework with its real-world application and provide a select cohort of Colby students with an immersive practical experience. Building on microeconomic principles, this course exposes students to practical challenges encountered by firms as they navigate decisions aimed at mitigating ESG-related risks. This includes balancing the objectives of different stakeholders of the firm, compliance with regulations across multiple regions and continents, as well as understanding how firms approach the financing of ESG-related projects. Following the on-campus phase, students then embarked on an immersive experience at Iberdrola ESG offices in Bilbao, Spain.
