Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Nguyen, an international student from Vietnam and part of the amazing Class of 2030! I’m super excited to be sharing my journey as an International Student Correspondent. My first week here on Mayflower Hill has been nothing short of a whirlwind, filled with orientation fun, incredible people, and getting used to my new home. To celebrate surviving (and thriving during) Week 1, I decided to spell out C-O-L-B-Y through five iconic spots on campus!

Here is my first-week review of the places that make Colby feel like home:

C – Miller Library 📚 Standing right in the heart of campus, Miller Library is as majestic in person as it is in photos. The iconic clock tower welcomed me on my very first day. Walking inside, I immediately fell in love with the quiet study nooks and the grand reading rooms. Whether you need a cozy spot for intense study sessions or just want to admire classic New England architecture, Miller is the place.

O – Goddard-Hodgkins (Go-Ho) Hall 🏠 Welcome to my dorm! Go-Ho has quickly become my cozy sanctuary. From late-night lounge chats with dorm mates to waking up to beautiful views right outside the window, living here has made the transition to college life so much smoother. It’s warm, welcoming, and already feels like home base.

L – Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center 🏋️‍♀️ Saying this facility is impressive is an understatement! As someone who loves staying active, entering the Alfond Athletics Center was mind-blowing. From the state-of-the-art fitness center to the breathtaking indoor pool and tracks, it’s the ultimate energy booster on campus.

B – Davis Connects 💼 Davis Connects is where big dreams take shape! Located right near the center of campus life, this is the hub for internship opportunities, global experiences, and career advice. Stepping inside made me even more excited for all the professional and research paths waiting ahead during my four years at Colby.

Y – Colby College Museum of Art 🎨 Did you know we have one of the finest college art museums right here on campus? The Colby Museum of Art is an absolute gem. Strolling through the peaceful galleries filled with world-class American contemporary art was the perfect weekend recharge after a busy orientation week.

First week down, seven more semesters to go! I can’t wait to share more stories, tips, and behind-the-scenes moments with you all as an International Student Correspondent. Go Mules! 💙💙
